Play your part in ending the suffering of wild animals as pets

Millions of wild animals are currently languishing in tanks and cages in UK homes. Their unimaginable suffering often means they die prematurely, silently and out of sight. Meanwhile, the exotic pet trade continues to promote a wide range of species of wild animal as ‘easy to keep’. And so the problem persists. As well as causing animal suffering, the exotic pet trade damages our environment and poses risks to human health. 

But it doesn’t have to be this way. There is a solution, and you can be part of it. The best way to help is by not contributing to the demand for exotic pets. Take the Exotic ‘Pet’ Pledge today and add your voice to a growing movement calling for an end to this cruel and destructive trade.

• Never to purchase goods from shops or businesses that sell wild animals as pets

What if I already own an exotic pet?

• You can still take the pledge. You probably appreciate, more than most people, the challenge involved in keeping wild animals as pets, and recognise that these animals should not be in the mainstream pet trade.

What if I decide in future to rescue an exotic pet?

• You can still take the pledge as long as you do everything you can to avoid financial supporting the exotic pet trade. 

How should I support campaigns to end the exotic pet suffering?
