Who we are

Who we are

Who we are & what we do

The Animal Protection Agency (APA) works solely to end the harmful trade in wild animals as pets by lobbying for tighter regulation and better enforcement of existing laws. APA’s sister organisation, the Animal Protection Agency Foundation, carries out or commissions important scientific research into the harmful impacts of the exotic pet trade. Unlike APA, the Animal Protection Agency Foundation is a registered charity (Charity no: 1123569).

Both organisations seek to raise awareness of the suffering of wild animals in the pet trade, as well as the damaging impacts on species conservation, the environment and human health. We share a vision for a world where wild animals are not traded as pets and those already kept as pets are afforded the best possible care. Although the two organisations work alongside each other, we do things differently.
